I told her that I don't believe in children should repay and recompense the parents for bringing up and providing for them.
They didn't ask to be born in the first place and they certainly did not get to choose their parents.
On the contrary, it is the parents' responsibilities to provide and take good care of their offspring not hoping to have any forms of returns in the future.
Yes, I absolutely believe it is the parents duty to prepare the children well for their future endeavors and by doing so doesn't mean that the children are in debt to them.
This was said after I found this on the bed after I came out from the shower and she came to my room shortly later.
I like to light scented candles after my shower everyday.
I think I have nothing else to regret in my life ever since she came along.

I definitely do not agree that a child should wash the feet of the mother as a gesture of appreciation. Not being offensive here. just that I find this ridiculous!!

I told her to take good care of herself and to live a fulfulling life will be my reward, not trying to sound noble here.

Today is Mother's Day 2017, I am here at home all by myself, she is in the uni working hard for her finals for sem 1, and...yeah....thank you for being such a sweet girl, Happy Mother's Day!
And to our endless arguments and disagreements and shouting and tears, we forgive and we forget!!
Wow! You have shared a beautiful album of photos taken with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteShe has grown up into a lovely Princess today. I agree with your right thoughts over the wrong expectation for the child's repayment duties to their parents and washing the feet gestures. You are a happy mother today because you loved your child without conditions and expectations.
I had much arguments with my friends recently when I pointed out that they had too much expectations from their grown up children when their mouths simply uttered that they expected nothing. They always hinted and compared notes with other wealthy friend's children for giving cash and trips to their own parents often.
Another friend who is a single parent has planned to put downpayment to a house for her own retirement and expect the 3 children to pay for her. All of them are very disappointed deep inside them.
Twilight Man, thank you very much for the compliments.
DeleteI think it's really unfair to the child/children to have to take the full responsibilities of the parents. They have their own life and dreams to pursue. When they have their own family, they will have to perform their duty as parents themselves.
It's wise that the parents should have their own means of retirement plans.
